We feature a few different olive oils because, like wine, all olive oils are not the same. They differ in taste and body and even in the types of olives used to create the oil. Some are blends of many varietals of olives, some use just one varietal of olive (monovarietal). Each has their own use in our kitchens, just like sometimes you need a burgundy and other times a rhone wine. Find your favorite uses for each one, and even try them side by side as a taste test with your friends!

We only use extra virgin olive oils in our kitchen, so only offer extra virgin olive oils to you. The term "extra" is the highest grade, and you thus know you have the best. To be graded "extra" it must have less than 1% free oleic acid, and must exhibit superior taste, color and aroma. Some of our olive oils are organic, and even D.O.P., giving them an extra, and important, distinction. The difference, of course, is in the taste and we invite you to try these to experience the difference these olive oils can make in your recipes.

We are so proud to be able to offer you our own branded extra virgin olive oil. Our goal was simple, to find an amazing extra virgin olive oil from Italy for daily use. We asked for it to be full bodied and delicious. We also asked for a price point below $20.

The wonderful people at Trampetti came through with their leccino/frantoio olive blend. They continued to meet the highest standards, as one would expect from Trampetti, and meet our goals as well.

The Trampetti farm is located in the prestigious Assisi-Spoleto hills of Umbria’s “gold coast” olive zone. There Massimo Sisani, third-generation descendant of Eugenio Trampetti, and Federico Bibi, Umbrian agricultural specialist, dedicate themselves to the production of one of the finest organic extra virgin olive oils in Italy. Same day, state-of-the-art mechanical (vs.chemical extraction which is inferior) processing of early hand picked olives results in an extra virgin olive oil with intense yet harmonious palate.

Trampetti’s high polyphenol levels (indicating quality of fruit) and low free oleic acidity levels (indicating freshness) have perennially put it at the top of all Italian extra virgin oils.

The olives are grown, hand-harvested, and pressed at Trampetti's estate in Italy.

marino.evoo.jpg Marino Novello Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil 2013 (Sicily, Italy)

Made in the prestigious Monte Iblei zone of southeastern Sicily, Marino's Novello Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil contains 100% Tonda Iblea olives. Early harvested, and 100% organic, this hand-harvested EVOO is made in small quantities. We only get 24 bottles a year!

The annual tasting of freshly pressed olive oil is a generations old tradition in Italy. Green olives are harvested in late December, just in time for the holidays. Unlike other olive oils, these novello (meaning new or fresh in Southern Italy; in Northern Italy they use the term nuovo) extra virgin olive oils do not spend any time in a settling tank, yielding an unfiltered and zesty olive oil. One must taste these truly fresh extra virgin olive oils and experience their fabulous vibrancy in order to understand why food loving Italians look forward to the yearly novello release!

This very special EVOO has earned the Marino family an outstanding rating by the 2010 Slow Food Guide to Extra Virgin Olive Oils.

The olives are grown and harvested at Marino's estate in Italy.

Olivar de la Luna Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil is made from 100% Nevadillo Blanco olives that are indigenous to Sierra de Cordoba in the northern regions of Andalucia, Spain. Through the production of this high quality organic extra virgin olive oil, Olivar de la Luna is able to protect their local environment and agricultural traditions.

"Olivar de la Luna" is a very fruity oil which echoes the flavour of the olives themselves, along with subtle hints of apples, almonds and freshly-cut grass. It has a long, sweet and luxurious taste, with a very lightly bitter aftertaste typical of the original olive, an indicator of its stability, abundance in polyphenols and anti-oxidants, and high vitamin E content.

canena_smoked_arbequina_evoo.jpg Castillo de Canena Cold Smoked Arbequina Extra Virgin Olive Oil (2013)

The Castillo de Canena estate has produced exceptional extra virgin olive oils in the Guadalquivir Valley of Andalusia in the south of Spain since 1780. This exceptional smoked oil is artisanally crafted by slowly infusing their high quality, hand-harvested, Castillo Arbequina Extra Virgin Olive Oil with naturally produced smoke from a mix of organic oak, beech, and birch woods. When you open the bottle you will smell, and taste, exquisitely smoked Arbequina with undertones of caramel, vanilla, and toffee. This unique oil is divine on its own, or you can pair it with your favorite recipes to add a smoky component to your dressings, marinades, and final dishes.

  • Brush it on bread, or just dip the bread right in.
  • Drizzle it on:
    • Vegetables.
    • Seafood, poultry, and meats.
    • Soup.
  • Use it to make a smoky hummus.
  • Pair it with your favorite vinegar for a smoky, delicious dressing or marinade.

In order to produce this wonderful, exquisite, cutting-edge cold smoked extra virgin olive oil, Castillo de Canena designed a unique process. Their burner allows the wood chips to slowly smolder. The smoke is then cooled, and passed through a water filter. They then slowly, over the course of 6 hours, release the cold smoke into the bottom of the tank which holds the Arbequina Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This artisanal process naturally imparts the smoky flavor and aroma into the oil.

  • Special blue bottles protect the extra virgin olive oil from harmful light.
  • No preservatives or artificial flavors.
  • This product is produced free of gluten, nuts, dairy, soy, and genetically engineered ingredients.

belazu_organic_argan_oil.jpg Belazu Organic Argan Oil

A unique oil with a mildly toasted, nutty flavor. It is known as "the golden oil."

The Argan tree is unique to the South Western corner of Morocco and is called the "tree of life" due to the importance of this tree, and its fruit and oil, to Moroccan traditions and culture. This remarkable organic Argan oil is made by cold pressing the seeds inside the nut of the Argan fruit. It takes 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of fruit to produce just 1 liter (33.8 fluid ounces) of oil, meaning it is an extremely labor intensive oil to produce.

Once the fruit ripens, it is harvested and laid out in the sun to dry. The flesh of the fruit is removed, and the hard shell of the nut is cracked to remove the almond shaped kernels inside. These are gently toasted and, once cooled, ground in a stone ‘rotary quern’, similar to a stone pestle and mortar. The resulting nut paste is then massaged by hand to extract the luscious oil.

Rich in Vitamin E and linoleic acids, and with a high unsaturated fatty acid content (over 80%), this unique organic Argan oil is full of health-giving properties. Vitamin E promotes healthy hair, skin, and nails, and the unsaturated fatty acids are great for keeping the heart healthy and lowering cholesterol levels. Initial tests indicate it may reverse the metabolic changes that occur from a high sugar diet, thus being a natural aid in the fight against diabetes; and the high levels of antioxidants show promise in fighting cancer. It is light in color with a reddish tinge and it is milder in flavor than sesame or walnut oil, yet its taste is distinctly nutty. Traditionally used for cooking tagines and dressing couscous, organic Argan oil also adds a unique and wonderful flavor to salads and other North African dishes.

A few serving ideas:

  • Mix organic Argan oil with honey and yogurt like the Berbers do for a nutritious breakfast.
  • Make amlou: a mixture of Argan oil, honey, and crushed almonds. It tastes a little like peanut butter and is great on toast.
    • 1/2 pound roasted Marcona Almonds
    • 1/2 to 2/3 cup Belazu Organic Argan Oil
    • 1/3 cup raw honey
    • In a food processor, or mortar and pestle, finely grind the almonds. Add the Organic Argan Oil a tablespoon at a time. Now add the honey until the desired sweetness is achieved. Serve in a small bowl with slices of pita bread for dipping

This organic Argan oil is suitable for vegans, vegetarians, and is gluten-free.

Rural Moroccans always knew Argan oil was good for you, inside and out. They actually rub their faces with their hands after eating a couscous dressed with Argan oil. In the spirit of that tradition, we can also recommend it for its beauty uses!! Since this oil is organic AND "food grade" it is higher in quality than those other "cosmetic grade" oils on the market today.

This product may not be suitable for nut allergy sufferers.

I Peccati di Ciacco is a first choice for lovers of Piedmontese cuisine at its best! Made in the village of La Morra, outside Alba, world-famous for wine and black & white truffles, each product is made in small lots according to regionally-inspired recipes with careful attention to maintaining freshness and homemade goodness.

This white truffle extra virgin olive oil is both aromatic and finely balanced. Each bottle, using top quality extra virgin olive oil, contains actual pieces of white truffle (Tuber magnatum pico). Spectacular in casseroles, vegetable and potato dishes, soups, gravies, meat sauces/entrées.... this is truly a chef's companion. On hot pizza, and on popcorn, it's perfect! A friend of mine keeps it in her purse for those "emergency" trips to fast food burger joints.... TRUFFLE FRIES :)

No preservatives!!

Do not be fooled by other truffle oils that use grape seed, sunflower, safflower, or even "olive oil"... if they went cheap on the oil you know they went cheap on the truffle. Demand "extra virgin olive oil," the best. Plus those other "truffle oils" do NOT have actual pieces of truffle in them, another cost cutting step which gives their truffle oil a chemically taste. So they went cheap on the truffle too.

Only buy truffle oils, like this one, that use EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL and that have ACTUAL PIECES of REAL TRUFFLE in EVERY bottle. That way you are guaranteed to get real, pure truffle flavor. It is a difference you can taste!

savini_sliced_black_truffle.jpg Savini Sliced Black Truffle

The Savini family business is world famous for their truffles. Starting in the 1920s, and continuing to this day, the family tradition of handcrafted truffle products has spanned over four generations.

During the harvest, the truffle gatherers collect both large and small truffles. The biggest ones are sold fresh to restaurants, while the smaller ones, with equally impressive flavor, are sliced, and through a very special proprietary method, preserved in olive oil. The flavor is identical to the fresh truffles, with the added benefit that you can keep them unopened in your kitchen for more than a year, and thus can have "fresh truffle flavor" anytime on a moment's notice.

These sliced black truffles are of the highest quality, and the Savini family ensures the origin of each and every truffle. This guarantees both the quality and the freshness. Every jar shows a "best by" date so you know you are getting the freshest truffles available.

  • Start your day off with a perfectly cooked egg and some sliced black truffles.
  • Stuff sliced black truffles under the skin of a chicken before roasting.
  • Add some slices to freshly cooked pasta... amazing!
  • A few slices on hot seared or grilled scallops is otherworldly.
  • Mix them into your risotto 15 minutes before it is done to make truffle risotto!
  • Save the olive oil, and you have authentic truffle oil!

1888 is made by using a one-ton press to extract the juice from whole Spanish olives. That's it:

  • no additives
  • no fillers
  • just real olive flavor without the salty aftertaste

1888 is so pure that it has 60% less sodium content than other "martini juices". You get to enjoy the healthy benefits of olives and, of course, the delicious pure olive taste.

There are OTHER mixers on the market but if you look at the ingredients, you will be hard pressed to find one that is actually made from olives. The majority of the OTHER products you see on the market are nothing more than three ingredients: Water, Salt and Lactic Acid. Where are the OLIVES in these other mixes? I want my martini with olives, not salt water. And the liquid in the olive jar is nothing more than this salt water with a hint of olive flavor from the olives that are sitting in it.

1888 is created through a special process which presses the olives in order to extract the true flavor from the Spanish olives.

  • Perfect for your dirty martini (of course!).
  • Use it as a marinade for chicken.

Contains no alcohol.

The Trampetti farm is located in the prestigious Assisi-Spoleto hills of Umbria’s "gold coast" olive zone. There Massimo Sisani, third-generation descendant of Eugenio Trampetti, and Federico Bibi, Umbrian agricultural specialist, dedicate themselves to the production of one of the finest organic extra virgin olive oils in Italy. Same day, state-of-the-art processing of early, hand-harvested, 100% Moraiolo olives results in an organic monovarietal extra virgin olive oil with intense yet harmonious notes of freshly-cut grass, fresh herbs, and artichoke.

Trampetti's high polyphenol levels (indicating quality of fruit), and low free oleic acidity levels (indicating freshness), have perennially put it at the top of all Italian extra virgin oils.

Each bottle is silver-wrapped to protect freshness and its back label is harvest-dated.

Featured yearly among Italy's Best Quality Italian Olive Oils.

Only Extra Virgin Olive Oil to Receive Best-In-Category NASFT nomination (2003).

madonna_raro_extra_virgin_olive_oil.jpg Madonna Raro Extra Virgin Olive Oil (2013)

Back in stock November 2014.

Antonino Mennella is a passionate young extra virgin olive oil producer from the Salerno area of Campania, Italy. On his small 2,000-tree farm he produces this limited edition Raro ('rare') extra virgin olive oil by removing the pits of the Ravece and Rotondella olives, and then only pressing the remaining fruit. This process is known as "denocciolate".

This pitting before pressing is unique, and it creates an extraordinary extra virgin olive oil unlike any other you will find.

Antonino uses advanced pressing and processing technology to provide a super extra virgin olive oil with double the average content of polyphenol antioxidants, and an astoundingly low level of free oleic acid. As a result, this extra virgin olive oil has almost the same level of freshness as an olive still on the tree.

La Madonna dell’Olivo has optimal levels of vitamin E tocopherols, and Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. This extra virgin olive oil has a remarkably well balanced flavor profile and is thus a ‘double winner’ -- an elixir of good health with amazing flavor.

This is a deep, intensely fruity extra virgin olive oil with irresistible aromas.

"My objective," says Antonino, "is to fight uniformity and exalt differences." Try this Raro Extra Virgin Olive Oil and you will see exactly what he means!
