griottines.35cl.jpg
The Griottines® recipe uses the Oblachinska Morello cherry which is only grown in the Balkans and has a unique taste. At harvest, each cherry is picked by hand, leaving the stalk behind. A rigorous sort process controls the size and within 6 hours of harvesting the first maceration occurs. This preserves the special flavor and physical properties of the cherries. The Morello cherries and the liqueur, through natural osmosis, become something magical. Another sort process selects only the top cherries before the pits of the cherries are removed. This is a very special process wherein the pits are removed through the hole left by the missing stalk. The cherries look whole but do not have the pit. These depitted cherries are then macerated in different liqueurs for different time periods based on a secret, traditional recipe. They are delivered to you for maximum enjoyment!

We love the black winter truffles, and when we found a Truffle Salt that incorporated them, we could not resist! We offer two truffle salt choices: the Casina Rossa with the Italian black summer truffle and now this French black winter truffle salt. Buy both and compare!

This Black Truffle Salt is a combination of the black winter truffle powder, truffle essence for flavor and smell, and black summer truffles and porcini powder for the coverage (color) the retail public is so insistent upon in a fine textured Spanish sea salt which contains no anti- caking or flowing agents!!!

We are so proud to be able to offer you our own branded extra virgin olive oil. Our goal was simple, to find an amazing extra virgin olive oil from Italy for daily use. We asked for it to be fruity, full bodied, and delicious. It is all 3 and then some, and the fruitiest EVOO we offer. We also asked for a price point below $20.

The wonderful people at Trampetti came through with their leccino/frantoio olive blend. They continued to meet the highest standards, as one would expect from Trampetti, and meet our goals as well.

The Trampetti farm is located in the prestigious Assisi-Spoleto hills of Umbria’s “gold coast” olive zone. There Massimo Sisani, third-generation descendant of Eugenio Trampetti, and Federico Bibi, Umbrian agricultural specialist, dedicate themselves to the production of one of the finest organic extra virgin olive oils in Italy. Same day, state-of-the-art processing of early hand-harvested, olives result in an extra virgin olive oil with intense yet harmonious notes of freshly-cut grass, fresh herbs, and artichoke. TRAMPETTI’s high polyphenol levels (indicating quality of fruit) and low free oleic acidity levels (indicating freshness) have perennially put it at the top of all Italian extra virgin oils.

Olives grown and harvested at Trampetti's estate in Italy.

We have always wanted to carry a French mustard made with truffles. We thought of importing such a mustard except the 100% import tax made the price seem ridiculous. It is good, but is it $35 good? Yes. We love truffles! But why not avoid the 100% import tax, make our own and save everyone some of their hard earned money. So we did make our own in the classic French tradition. This is a traditional, silky Dijon mustard (mustard seed, water, vinegar, sea salt and turmeric) with a good coverage of truffle bits and truffle essence.

We think this is fantastic and something you'll be proud to have in your kitchens!

We have always wanted to carry a French mustard made with Banyuls Vinegar. We thought of importing such a mustard except the 100% import tax made the price seem ridiculous. It is good, but is it $25 good? Maybe, but who wants to pay $20 for mustard? So finally we decided to make our own in the classic French tradition. This is coarse mustard with our Vinegar of Banyuls (La Cave de l'Abbe Rous), a touch of water, mustard seeds, our sea salt and a dash of turmeric to keep the color.

We think this is fantastic and something you'll be proud to have in your kitchens!

Banyuls Vinegar (La Cave de l'Abbe Rous) has amazing aromas of walnut, spice cake, beeswax, vanilla, and licorice. Le Vinaigre de Banyuls is a fierce rival to both Italian balsamico and Spanish sherry vinegar. Its distinct nut-like qualities make it the perfect companion for vinaigrettes made with hazelnut, walnut oils or high-quality olive oils. And when you're in the mood for something really special use Le Vinaigre de Banyuls as a marinade for fish or to deglaze the pan after sautéing duck, mushrooms, or even... fois gras!

We love truffles!

For the first time ever, we are happy to be able to offer you FRESH winter black truffles from France. This is the top of the truffle spectrum. Many of us travel to France in truffle season just to taste these wonderful gems!

Black Truffles (Tuber melanosporum), also known as "Périgord truffles", grow exclusively in oak forests. The 18th-century French gastronome Brillat-Savarin said "The French black truffle is considered the finest of the edible fungi and has a place in gastronomy alongside saffron, caviar, foie gras and the finest of wines. Widely considered as the jewel of French cooking prized for its unique flavour and intoxicating aroma". They are intensely aromatic and flavorful, and unlike their white cousins, are often cooked with the dish, although we also appreciate them freshly shaved over our meals upon serving.

Please store your fresh truffles in a cool, dark place. Wrap them individually in unbleached paper towels and put into a sealed container in the refrigerator. Use within two weeks for maximum freshness. The sooner the better in our experience. We will include a free truffle slicer with each order, as we highly recommend the resulting thin shavings to bring out the maximum aroma and flavor.

This is a one time opportunity, we will place one order for delivery the week of December 21, 2009. The ordering deadline is December 17, 2009. Orders will arrive via overnight delivery to your address. We are directly importing these from France, no middle man or delay in transit.

Due to the rare and perishable nature of this item, we cannot honor coupons and ask that you order your truffles separately from all other items as the truffles require special shipping and handling. This is a pre-order and subject to confirmation once our supplier in France puts them in our hands. As each truffle is a natural product we will weigh each order to get as close to your ordered amount as possible and adjust the dollar amount of the final order upon delivery to you.

Please choose a "Black Truffle Shipping" @ $45 if you will not be picking up your truffles in person. This covers our overnight shipping charges to you. 1 oz
