In 1982 L’Epicurien was a simple delicatessen in Paris. But 15 years later Mr. Bernard Le Gulvout decided to focus exclusively on the traditional production of jam, and savory products.

In 1997 he moved to the Languedoc Roussillon region of France, known for their high quality fruits and vegetables, so he could have direct access to the region's finest farms.

He has successfully established solid, long-term relationships with the farmers, and thus has a guaranteed supply of top quality ingredients which enables him to create the best tasting, highest quality, fruit and vegetable confits in the world.

Made using only the highest quality ingredients, and with no preservatives or additivies, this Shallot Confit will quickly become your favorite way to add extra flavor to a variety of dishes. Uniquely savory and sweet, this confit is lovely on a sandwich or burger, or when it is used as a sauce for red meat. With it's special taste, this confit compliments many dishes.

Ingredients: shallots (74%), sunflower oil, cane sugar, white wine from Pays d'Oc, red wine vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, modified starch, blackcurrant cream, salt, caramel color, concentrated lemon juice, spices, rosemary extract.

Amazing 01/04/2018
By BaroloMan
I use soffrittos and confits like this quite often. I substitute them for a true ragu to make the base for simple but singing pasta sauces. This will be amazing with savory crepes. Anything off the grill, but especially burgers, should get a small topping of this confit. Try it in simple tacos with a carne asada like diced steak. Putting this on eggs is too easy, but I cannot stop doing it. Bake in phyllo with brie.

Easy and elegant 11/03/2014

These caramelized shallots have a mellow, rich, and complex depth of flavor and are so easy to pair with a cheese and cracker plate. Unexpected guests stopping by? Not a problem as long as I have this confit and water crackers in the pantry!
