La Plantation manages 22,000 Kampot pepper posts on 20 hectares. They grow the pepper in a traditional, organic way, in strict compliance with the PGI standards for Kampot pepper and use only organic fertilizers.

The Province of Kampot in the Kingdom of Cambodia has for many centuries held the reputation of producing the best pepper in the world, by the leading Chefs in Paris and their Michelin starred restaurants.

Kampot Red Long Pepper, "Piper retrofactum", is a flowering vine of the family of peppers, originally from Java, Indonesia. The first reference to long pepper appeared in Indian textbooks of Ayurvedic medicine, where its medicinal and dietary benefits are described in detail. Very popular in Roman and Greek times, it was one of the first spices to reach Europe, from the 6th or 5th century BC.

We love this sweet & spicy peppercorn on sauteed fruits like pears and pineapples, on salads, chicken, and fish, or tossed whole into a slow braise.

These do NOT fit in a standard pepper grinder so we suggest you use a mortar and pestle, or grate it.
